"Try to justify the things I used to do, believe in you"

They're all empty, in case you're wondering. Exam sessions rock (except they so do not).

No outfit posts this week because I did not leave the house except to go to my Histology Lab exam and to get coffee.

The only clothes I wore on these little trips were jeans, a tee and rainboots because while I was stuck in the house, with nothing but pages and pages of courses, Coke Zero and 12 hours of studying non stop, the sky felt like it had broken and it's been raining non stop. It's like the world is trying to catch up on the water it's been owing us since a very hot and dry autumn.

So, in lack of outfits, here is a quiz post and a lot wishes for a great weekend :)

I've been tagged by Zmaga to share 10 random things about myself, so off the top of my head here are the first things that come to mind:

1 I love movies and if I like a movie I can watch it 10 times in a row and not get bored of it. I've watched The Dark Knight about 6 times this summer, 3 of those times at the cinema!

2 I have a new obsession every week. This week: Twilight, apple and kiwi smoothies, making paper planes out of my courses. And when I do I go all the way (why yes, that is a photo of Robert Pattinson on my cell phone, iPod and computer desktop, why do you ask?)

3 I am very friendly with almost everybody, but I make real, honest-to-god, lets-share-friendship-bracelets friends rarely. But if I do end up considering you my friend I consider it to be forever. So my girls (they know who they are <3) style="font-weight: bold;">4 I'm a Taurus and I relate to my sign completely: stubborn, possessive, chilled until you really step on my nerves and then it's smoke-out-of-ears fury, haha.

5 I love reading. A lot. Favorite writers: Steinbeck, Amelie Nothomb, Faulkner, Bulgakov, Pascal Bruckner, Oscar Wilde.

6 I am half Macedonian. I can understand the language perfectly but can't speak a word of it.

7 Speaking of languages, my mom always jokes that I know English better than Romanian. She might be right :))

8 I love breakfast! You can starve me all day if you want, but if you get between me and my breakfast I die. It's my favorite meal of the day and it usually consists of a bowl of whole wheat cereals with soy milk, cinnamon, ground flax seeds and different fruits. Yum!

9 I am an early bird and I'm out of bed at 6 or 7 every morning.

10 I love coffee... but I guess that's really not an unknown fact about me, is it?

*

Also, I've been tagged by the adorable Annah:

The rules are :
1. Go to the 4th folder in your computer where you store your pictures.
2. Pick the 4th picture in that folder.
3. Explain the picture.
4. Tag 4 people to do the same!

My 4th folder is called Music is Love and this is the photo:

This photo is Brendon Urie, who is the singer from one of my favorite bands, Panic at the Disco. The photo was taken from the photo site of Thomas Conrad who is a great photographer and who unfortunately posts too little and whom I really like! Needless to say, I think this photo is absolutely beautiful <3

"Glaciers melting in the dead of night"

Irina, Me, Madu and Dana on chilly Friday night.

We went and saw Twilight which wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. We swooned over Edward Cullen's voice and hair, over James' abs (favorite evil vampire ever, yes?), the too cheesy but oh-so-lovely Edward/Bella love and their collective sparklyness :)) The books are still not my cup of tea, but who knows, maybe after this exam session kills my brain cells I will be able to read them then.

Today:
Skipping uni so I can study. Great.
I still battled the cold rain to get my Grande Soy Sugarfree Vanilla latte though. Seriously, I will be one of those people that have too much blood in their caffeine system soon!

"With a laugh like that and a look like that you make us all just go la la la la woah"

It suddenly feels like days are shorter. 24 hours aren't enough for hundreds of pages of courses of anatomy and histology and physiology, for reruns of Grey's Anatomy and Skins, for all the books on my shelf waiting to be discovered, for painting my nails in neon colors, for watching Heath Ledger movies with my mom, for breaking some friendships and healing others, for Pilates, for my abandoned scrapbook, for Starbucks runs, for smiling at cute boys that love coffee cups too, for sleep, for dancing around in the morning.

Or maybe it's just the exam session that makes me feel rushed, and panicked and surprisingly small even when I'm wearing my highest heels. March needs to be here faster so I can finally breathe again.

Wednesday:

Weird day with even weirder car trips (7 girls in a small car? no problem!), with warm lattes and getting home early (always a plus).

Andy and Maria and Maria's oh-so-pretty bag!

Irina and Maria. We're always too sleepy for our Microbiology course.

dress: Zara, star hoodie: Pull&Bear, tights: Accessorize, boots: Musette, coat: Motivi, bag: Nine West

Tuesday:

Weird keeps on happening but lack of sleep distracts us from it. Day with too many microscopes, with almost-exploding capillaries and the best pizza ever (or what hunger does to one's brain)

Good when used to measure blood pressure. Bad when left in the hands of med students who watched too many Jackass episodes.

Song of the Day: Elbow - One Day Like This

Tuesday, 20 January 2009

"What if she changes when her blood sugar drops? Like a hypoglycemic werewolf!"

One day I will be able to make a pot of coffee in the morning without leaving coffee stains all over the kitchen. One day.

Spent an entire weekend trying to decide between Grey's Anatomy and Gray's Anatomy. Ended up with a bunch of boring histology courses instead. Oh, epithelial tissue, how I loathe thee.

My exam session is starting to tip-toe closer (okay, maybe more like slam into me at full force & screaming) and my stress eating and my obsession over certain shows are starting to get out of control. I can't help it, icecream and McSteamy/Barney Stinson/Floppy Haired Guy/Chuck&Blair are my coping mechanisms.

Can I just fall asleep now and wake up a surgeon please?

"Did I ask you to be his psychiatrist? No. I asked you to fucking kill him."

3 hours of sleep and an 8am-to-8pm day and still going strong. Barely.

12-hour days are never fun. But when they have chocolate cake, homemade Martini's, Fight Club and stupid quotes caused by hypoglycemia and lack of sleep ("I am a med student, hear me roar!"), well that's when they're just a little bit better than usual.

"Change. We don't like it. We fear it, but we can't stop it from coming. We either adapt to change or we get left behind. It hurts to grow, anybody who tells you it doesn't is lying, but here's the truth sometimes the more things change the more they stay the same. And sometimes, oh, sometimes change is good. Sometimes change is everything."
Dr. Meredith Grey, Grey's Anatomy

Irina D. and Andy, a break during labs.

"She's such a charmer, she stole my karma"

From left to right: Andy, Irina D, Maria and Irina.

This has got to be my favorite photo I took of my girls from uni. You can't even tell they're getting ready to start an exam, can you?

January seems to really want to reach Coldest Month status. I don't mind that much really. Especially today, it was the good kind of cold. The one where the air feels fresh in your lungs and numbs out any thoughts that might plague your mind. Or maybe I have my head filled with too many things, who knows.

*

People who know me know that I don't just like things (movies, music, etc.), I obsess over them. The newest obsession? Kings of Leon with their amazing album, Only by the Night. As I am a very alternative rock/pop-punk kind of girl, their songs really do make my toes curl with delight.

Kings of Leon's singer, inspiring new outfits since this morning.

Today style inspiration comes from them too; as soon as I saw this photo of the band's singer, Caleb Followill, I knew I had found today's outfit.
So here's my take on it:

"The age of the understatement "

I really wanted to do a post about my favorite Fall-Winter campaigns (or Spring Summer, depending on my mood). So while I was browsing the tFS forums I came across the campaign for Mr. Galliano's jewelry line and all other thoughts just left my brain. It's funny how this man always has this effect on me.

I might still do the campaigns post but until then how about we all just sit down with a cup of coffee while imagining those beautiful rings on our fingers and just enjoy the pretty? That seems like a nice plan to me!
