"Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor not a model"

(As you can tell from the post title, the Star Trek fever is still going strong, haha!)

So I am sure you all remember this post about the photoshoot I was invited to participate in, for the new online mall FashionUp along with Shopping Report magazine.

It was an amazing experience because not only did I get pampered by a very nice hairstylist, the most sweet make-up artist I ever met and the oh-so-very-friendly people at the studio, I also met the other charming and fashionable bloggers who also participated in the project:

Definitely check their blogs as well for some more stylish outfits!

This is the photo of me and the outfit I chose. I am wearing a PNK sequined dress, Baldinini heels, Bata quilted bag and Olsen crystal bracelet.

The reason why I chose that dress is because a) it's funky and funny and just my style, b) I love black and of course LBDs, and c) I am the perfect example of the thoery that one of the similarities between women and fish is that they have an unnatural attraction to bright, shiny and sparkly things :))

The photos will be published in the July issue of Shopping Report magazine and there will also be a contest where you (yes, you all reading this!) can vote for your favorite outfit:

Now there's a Histology book and a can of Red Bull calling my name so I will leave you with that. Vote vote vote please!

"To fall in love and fall in debt to alcohol and cigarettes"

The days that you have to read pages upon pages of histology are the days when saying "There's too much blood in my caffeine system" is utterly true.

I usually do exaggerate when I say life is being boring and unexciting but not today. Life really is getting boring and unexciting... except for the mental breakdown caused by school, of course. Had exams on Friday, Saturday, Monday and next one this Thursday and the only thing I wish to do right now is sleep because I am functioning on coffee, cigarettes and Red Bull.

Hopefully things will slow down a little after Thursday. Fingers and toes crossed!

Until then, here are some pretty things that have kept me online these days:

+ I know what I'm doing when I have a free weekend: The Greatest SciFi Comedies.
+ Saw Star Trek for the 3rd time this Saturday. We got excited because we went and saw it at the Starplex. Haha, geeks, us? Now I really want this Cosmic Commander necklace.
+ This is why I love Steven Klein. Hot!
+ For all you Sasha Pivovarova loving: Sasha Fierce.
+ Braaaaain.
+ Summer of movies? Yes please!
The Time Traveler's Wife.
Nine.
Inglourious Basterds.
Adam.
Puplic Enemies.
How to Be.

PS: Photos from the photoshoot tomorrow :)

Monday:
After a grueling exam and too many post-exam hours spent in a library with nothing but the company of a dusty old Guyton, when Roxana and Florina offered Starbucks I more or less bolted out the door in a way that would make Road Runner look like a snail on crack.

You can't tell, but I think I was actually sleeping with my eyes open at this point :))

The girls lookd absolutely gorgeous! Don't I have beautiful friends? Yes, I think I really d.

Shoeporn!

Apple and Cinnamon muffins, yum.

"Well, let the geek in the pink take a stab at it"

source: mixologies @ LJ.

I am sad to announce that for a day I will have to leave my darling camera at home and tell my girls who always take the time to take my photo that they're on a break.
Why you ask? Because on Friday I will be participating in a photoshoot.

To celebrate the opening of a new online mall in Romania, FashionUp.ro (with the support of Shopping Report - ex-J'Adore magazine), I was asked to build an outfit with the clothes from the site and then you - yes, you the readers! - will vote on it.

I couldn't say no because I can never turn down a fashion related challenge.

I am doing this alongside some very fashionable & lovely bloggers: Diana Bobar, Roxana Radu, Andreeea Molocea, Nookie, Maria, Adina Necula, Ana, Dada & Laura Bucur.

Stay tuned for more details and photos soon!

PS: I am strangely amused by the fact that my day will be something like this: waking up too early, studying, Microbiology exam, photoshoot, more studying, and a lot of Red Bull inbetween.

Quote of the day:
Andy: "Any testicles around here? Anna, go find some testicles right now, go go go"
(in regards to the microscope slides we had to stare at today.)
And the response:
Girl colleague: "I have one! Oh wait, there's even two of them on the same slide"

You know what they say, two are better than one. Heh, only in med school :))

I think I found my theme song.

"Where do you see yourself in five minutes time?"

Last minute study session? Or just hanging out on the school hallways?

Monday was an interesting day. While the entire country was on a national holiday, we were stuck at uni with an English exam. To say I was as excited as Spock in a kids' amusement park is an understatement.

Thankfully, the rest of the day was spent with a bowl of strawberries and Pushing Daisies. Ah, comfy bliss.

Reading about medical specialties and what the hell a proctologist does - oh fun.

Maria (and her still awesome hairstyle) and Andy.

I actually look this excited because I just had coffee.

Andy and Irina :)

This is how all the stairs look when there's an exam around.

This is actual excitement because I had just finished the exam, along with an A! I also think Andy enjoys herself too much when making me jump for photos (don't try to deny it!)

Irina, looking cute and pouty before walking in the exam room.

And the day could not be finished without the obligatory Lets Make Fun Of Anna Cause She Can't Do The Live-Long-And-Prosper Star Trek Sign time. I am a bad Trekkie :P

Yeah, yeah, but I'll get it one day and when I do I am so going all Klingon on your asses! And I will beat all of you at Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock. Ha!!

Song of the Day: The Amsterdams - Chased by the Housewives

Saturday, 6 June 2009

"It makes films like crimes, and directors like criminals."

I am almost ready to take an "Out of Order" sign and stick it over my life until my exam session is over.

Oh higher education, thou are a heartless bitch.

As you might have noticed, outfit posts have been non existent lately, mainly because I have been living in jeans and tee shirts and I almost succumbed to wearing my Converse this week. Gasp! But fear not, I promise things will start getting interesting soon. There might be a big surprise coming soon too so stick around for that ;)

As soon as my stress levels rise I end up not sleeping too much so I spend my nights watching a lot of movies. A movie I rewatched lately is Bernardo Bertolucci's The Dreamers. I adore this movie, even if it isn't my favorite of his (Last Tango in Paris and The Last Emperor come to mind here), but it is a beautiful and eloquent piece of cinema that will surely leave a mark on the viewer, be it of love or hate.

A story about three young people, who live vivaciously through their dreams and their movies, forgetting about the reality that exists right outside their door. Sexuality and sensuality are the means of expression for these dreamers. They are so little aware of what goes on in the world but talk and talk about philosophy and life without knowing much about it, ignoring the rip between their dream land and the world.

Being a Berlolucci film it is very voyeuristic, the intimacy of the characters being put on full display. I think the acting is superb from all three leads who make this movie what it is.

It as also visually stunning and I couldn't resist sharing with you all. If you haven't seen it, I hope you will soon. And if you have seen it, what do you think of it? Love, hate, indifference?
