"I was born a charming man with silver tongue."

Birthday Weekend
What? Even stuffed sheep enjoy a little bit of sun from time to time.

*

This weekend was like the first shot of tequila after a day when you missed your bus, got honked at by the garbage guys but ignored by the cute nerd at the coffee shop after you accidentally poured said coffee on your new white shirt and then spent a day at the job banging your head on your laptop which, by the way, stopped working as soon as you walked in. And like, free tequila. Because the bartender feels pity for you but still, yeah, free tequila!

Because this weekend was my birthday. Even though I realized twenty-three is much closer to twenty-five than to twenty, I decided to take my mom's advice ("You are disgustingly young so shut up, suck it up and eat your damn cake!") and enjoy what was the best weekend ever :D

It was a weekend with sushi, good drinks, a lot of hugs from my too awesome for words friends and rubber duckies :-) It was just the thing I needed during these mean and daunting times of trying to translate my cardiology books into a language I can understand. Thank god for friends ♥

I decided to hold on to the tradition and turn Sunday in a day of staring at the ceiling, sitting in the sun and panicking just inside my head and not taking it to the level of actually curling up on the floor in a fetal position and sobbing. That's only reserved for Mondays to Fridays.

Birthday Weekend
And photoshoots in my birthday outfit!

Birthday Weekend
And I did not fall flat on my face once. Take that gravity, ha!

This is Vasilica. I love sheep, they're stupid and fluffy and completely adorable and I collect all sorts of sheep toys so she was the gift bearer of the night :)

We bonded.

Of course a day in the sun cannot be complete without my sparkly, bug-eye, diva sunglasses that even Bowie would be jealous of.

Wearing: Zara dress & shoes, Mango sunglasses, unknown brand tights.

Birthday Weekend

And the piece de resistance, my ultimate birthday presents was this MacBook Air. Right now, this tiny little laptop is traveling over seven sees and seven mountains and seven blah-blahs to arrive at my door and be loved forever and a day. And you know what this means? I will be playing World of Warcraft all summer, booyah!!

So many thanks to my mom, Alex, Andy, Maria, Ioana, Irina, Florin, Roxu, Tudor, Florina, Anna and Cristi for the incredible work they did in plotting this. Yeah, yeah, all my friends rock, I know.

♥ ♥ ♥

Birthday Weekend
And when I though my birthday was over, I was surprised with this absolutely perfect necklace from Hilkee and Flo who rock more than 99.9% of the world's population, and that's including The Rolling Stones ♥

Birthday Ducky
The last thanks go to the bartender at Saturday night's club for the rubber duckies. My Cosmo tasted surprisingly better all night.

"Lived and learned from fools and from sages"

This is how it feels like

I am suffering from author's block, if you will. An annoying, troublesome creative slump. The part of my brain that loved the click of the camera and the tac-tac-tac of a keyboard has fled the coop and is probably drunk in a rundown bar while I'm using my keyboard as dust gatherer. I sometimes feel as if I can hear my brain sloshing around and slowly dripping out through the boredom cracks in my skull.

Does anyone have a cure for the creative equivalent of being down in the dumps? If yes, please write down on post-it and send by carrier pigeon. They'll know where to find me.

On this background, I've been trying to distract myself/entice my neurons with different activities:

♥ my birthday in May (feeling too old in my own skin but still too young at the same time, how is that possible?) . Brought good times and great gifts, so I can't complain too much about getting old.
♥ experiments in the kitchen which did not end in fires, surprisingly, and the realization I can make delicious stuffed peppers and chocolate muffins.
♥ painted Easter eggs with mother and ate abnormal amounts of chocolate that holiday and every other holiday from New Year's until now.
Bike-walked. Not as much as I want, but still. It was fun!
♥ Saw Cluj for the first time and Sinaia for the one billionth time. Remembered why I love road trips and late nights spent in the company of lovely people.
♥ been losing sleep. Dreaming about Zombie Apocalypses and making plans of action for when that time comes (rules include: cardio and shotguns. Thanks Zombieland!)
♥ Watched all of Supernatural. All of 30 Rock (I thought I hated it. It was a shock to realize I actually don't. I call this the power of Tina Fey). And started M.A.S.H. and Doctor Who. Hmmm, I am slowly understanding why I've been losing sleep ...
♥ Tried the wind-swept style. And the Cousin It of Adams Family fame style. Changed hair color with every coloring and ended up slightly amber. I am now sporting what I call "Fake Red Head Who Has No Time to Dye Her Hair and Whose Hairdresser Is On Holiday" style. It works for me!
♥ Girls' night out, of course.
♥ Started taking the whole vegetarian thing very seriously. And the coffee addict thing too.
♥ Also started taking football (yes, football, not soccer, thank you very much!) very seriously
♥ Saw Aerosmith live just 2 days ago. Spent time afterward dreaming of sequined blazers and dancing to Dude Looks Like a Lady as these two things seem to work together. Steven Tyler is one ball of rock-and-roll, crazy energy.

♥ ... O yeah, started exams. Thinking I won't finish them alive, if my pathology book has anything to say about it.

All in all, it has not been a boring time! Fingers crossed for my inspiration and if you need me I'll be off re-enacting the Glee dance scenes and dreaming of future times when school books will be locked in dark places and days will be nothing more than vodka-orange glasses and lazy reading on picnic blankets.

"If the world ends, I think we could laugh just enough to not die in pain"

*

And sometimes, it feels like some things just fall into place. Shared smiles over glasses of alcohol as the ice cubes (half melted, but still there) touch your lips, laughs as the cigarette smokes swirls in indistinguishable shapes above your head and under the stars, the vibrations of the music under your toes as the night passes on.

I feel sometimes as if I can actually hear the click of most of the pieces arranging themselves in this weird puzzle to form an image. Finally. It's still not there, not fully; more like watching a movie through foggy glasses or like a watercolor painting that has been kept under rain drops. But still, every good feeling has to have a beginning, isn't that so?

*

Friday night, my birthday get-together. One huge table, great live music, good food and good hearts. Do you actually need anything more than that for a perfect night? I honestly think that that is what happiness feels like.

Roxana, Florina and I.

Yes, there was alcohol involved! Me, Irina D, Maria and Andy.

Irina and her boy, looking adorable together. Me giggling like a kid along side Mada and Dana.

Between one Irina and the other.

*hearts*

This is the moment where we all stop what we're doing and start loving Maria's new hair style, which is absolutely divine.

Why yes, we are mostly 21 years old. Mostly.

Andy's hair is also gorgeous. No wonder I felt the need to color my hair, just look at the competition!

The Gifts also rocked my socks straight off my feet!

My friends know me well; a comic book geek with a shopaholic brain.

"Oh, we're still so young, desperate for attention; I aim to be your eyes, trophy boys, trophy wives"

*

I am having a mid-life crises 20 years earlier than usually expected. Other people buy expensive cars or expensive jewelery or expensive pool boys, but seeing as I am not doing to well on the credit side of things, I did the next best thing.

I am now officially a red-head.

And just in time for my birthday tomorrow. 21 years old, officially aloud to drink alcohol anywhere in the world now, what a bummer :))

So Happy Birthday to Me (as if this post wasn't narcissistic enough!) and here's to being red & hopefully drunk soon!

:)

"Bet she's delighted when she sees him because she must be fucking freezing, scantily clad beneath the clear night sky"

Tomorrow I am going to my gran's place for a couple of days to celebrate Easter (it's the orthodox one's turn now) so I am preparing my stomach by eating a rich chocolate muffin that I bought for my mom and lazying around watching The Big Bang Theory.

I just came back from the movies (Monsters Vs. Aliens, so much fun!) and the thought that I have a free week next week where I can just sleep as much as I want and do what I want is just great!!

Because I won't be online for a couple of days, this post is a photo overload from the past computer-less weeks.
Enjoy and to all the Romanians reading this: Happy Easter! Paste Fericit :)

Yesterday:
It was Irina's birthday party! We had pizza and alcohol and a great time!
And Irina proved again that she is a mastermind ;D

Irina, who looked gorgeous!

Taking a photo of a photo.

Me molesting Irina. Couldn't help it, she looked too gorgeous!

Bowling Night:
So at one point during my computer hiatus, I went bowling with Roxana and her friends. The funniest and best people I met, we had so much fun and acted like kids. In other words, we had a great night!

Of course I chose the pink bowling ball :)

Roxana and her bff, so cute!

Whack the Weasel (any Dexter's Lab fans will understand!).

The girls won glow in the dark bracelets. Mine was pink.

The first 21st year old of the bunch. Club Control, a lot of alcohol and cigarettes, a lot of eye candy, great music and greasy fast-food at 5am. Great, greata times ws had by all!

The birthday girl, who looked amazing!

Andy, Irina, Irina D. and Maria, pre-alcohol!

I was probably drunk by this time.
